Chicken is a small dog with a large following. Genetically speaking, she is out of Ebb, part of the Jeff King opposites litter. She eats anything and everything. She's 3 this year, a leader, and jumping at the chance to run Iditarod. Sponsored by Tim Brown

Picture
Itsy is also part of our "baby" litter. She is an excellent leader, especially alongside her brother Temper. She is also just a really fun dog to be around, high-energy but also well-mannered, affectionate, and out-going. Sponsored by Jeanne and Steve Irland

Picture
This is Harriet, one of our rebels. Up and coming yearling with so much promise. Sponsored by John and Dianne Brain.

Picture
Che' is a very rambunctious yearling.  Between Che' and his brother Dino, both very large, driven boys out of the DeeDee and Temper, future races are going to be fun. Sponsored by Dana Rogers

Picture
Pinto is six. He is a team cheerleader and thought I sometimes feel he slacks while training, he ramps things up while racing. Every year during the Beargrease, 200 miles into the race, at 4 am and 20 below, Pinto is calling up the team. Pinto is sponsored by Danielle Bartz

Picture
Ju-Ju is sister to Monster and Riot. She currently has smallest dog in the kennel distinction but she can still knock me over. She has great floppy ears and loves to wrestle all day long with her neighbor Mikey. Sponsored by Edie Dyke and Mike Shypulski

Picture
Ruth, named for Ruth Bader Ginsberg is part of the rebel litter. She's a yearling who loves to wrestle with her neighbors. I'm excited to see how this girl turns out. Sponsored! By Way of the Wilderness

Picture
Chip, from the cookie litter is a high energy, drag-me-down and all-around wild dog when it comes to running. He loves to lie on his back for a belly rub. Three years old this year and ready to go the distance. Sponsored Anonymously

Picture
Georgia, left, grew up with Peaches (black and white on the right) and her sister Frida. Georgia is another dog that likes to empty her water bucket daily and has almost too much energy at hook up.  Frida is the sweetest dog, somewhat shy. She has finished Beargrease and Can Am. She doesn't like her front feet touched and we are working on this.
Georgia is sponsored by Northern Wilds

Peaches ran a great Beargrease in 2022, so we are hoping to bring her back into the main string. She is a large female as she was the solo pup out of our main leader Nancy in 2019.
Peaches will be sponsored by Tom and Shireen Altemus  Image by John Stember
Picture
Frida is the shy sister of Georgia. They came to us as puppies from another kennel, in a year when we had a one-pup litter (Peaches). Frida is small but mighty--finisher of Beargrease and Can Am. She doesn't appreciate our care and concern for her feet, especially her front feet, but we're working on that.  Sponsored by Loon Lake Lodge

Picture
Keith is possibly the shyest dog we own. He actually won't interact with us much on a day to day basis. But pull out the running harness, or better yet, bring him to a race, and suddenly we're besties. Another leader, now age 6, he can't wait for race season to begin.
Keith is sponsored by Shannon Benolken

Picture
Teddy is another six-year old from the baby litter. He is an incredibly solid team dog who never causes problems, eats every meal and finishes every race. Sponsored by Bearskin Lodge

Picture
Sandino or Dino for short is one of the rebels. I think he is extremely handsome, very athletic build, and also quite photogenic. He just stares at the camera while I click. He's a yearling sponsored by Sam Adams and Lahn Nguyen. This guy is going places.

DeeDee came to us from another kennel. She's a rather large female with a propensity to go after her neighbor on the gangline. For two years in a row she has been benched early in the race season because of this bad habit, but then she realizes she's missing out and she makes the Can Am team and finishes super strong (last year she ran the second half of Can Am in lead). When its time to load up, she runs to the truck. She is mama to our rebel litter and they are a fine looking bunch of pups. I have a very soft spot for DeeDee even though her bad habits are hard to break. Still, I believe she will be a key player on the Iditarod team. Sponsored by Mike Bartz

Part of the cookie litter, Oreo age 3, might be the sweetest boy we have. Unfortunately an injury took him out of most racing last season, but with his thick coat and easy-going demeanor, I certainly hope he is part of this year's main team.

Here's Mikey. Mikey really comes straight from the Spielberg classic Goonies. And have you ever seen such a face? Big and lanky, Mikey is a solid dog. He's only two, but he's doing great.
Sponsored by my wonderful nursing co-workers at North Shore Health! Erick, Bre, Sandi, Sherri, Kia, Andrea, Meghan, Renee, Rob, Danielle

Picture
Taco has such a big personality for a little dog. He's six going on two, always causing mischief with the neighbors. When we drove a trailer to races he would squeeze out of his box, once destroying a down sleeping bag and spreading feathers all over the trailer. He is aptly sponsored by Hungry Hippy Tacos and Hostel

Temper is holding our team together. Incredible leader since he was two, he truly never falters. At hook-up, he stands in front of the team, calm, looking back, waiting for his cue to go. Funny, but he always barks at me when I come home, as if I'm some stranger. He's probably trying to tell me something, but I haven't figured that out yet. Sponsored by Sisu and Loyly

Mouth is now two, part of the Goonies litter. He's a rather comical dog who loves to go swimming in his water bucket every day. He ran a couple 100 mile races last year and is ready to go further! Mouth is sponsored by Lee and Cindy Theorin

Picture
Andi, also from Goonies is an energized female who barely stopped jumping long enough for a photo. She also ran some 100 mile races last year and will surely make the big team this year. Sponsored by Jen Phelps and Dottie Conroy

Picture
Ginger is three. She's a quiet girl, sometimes shy, but always up to the task. She likes to accumulate dog bowls inside her house. Here I have interrupted her nap and she's having a big yawn. Sponsored by The Fisherman's Daughter

Picture
Lorna (Doone), named for my favorite hospital cookie, is a small and mighty 3-yr-old ready for the longest race. She finished Beargrease last year at age two!
Sponsored by Doodle Dogs

Picture
Riot and his brother Monster are yearlings and part of the energy drink litter. Riot does not stop moving for long. Luckily I was able to get a pic of his ear configuration here.  Riot is sponsored by Ben Belland

Picture
Sometimes Monster's ears go one up and one down as well. Monster is the appropriate name for this driven young male. Sponsored by Stone Harbor

Picture

Chunk is one of the Goonies. He is a great-trotting 3-year-old with tons of promise. He loves to play with his brother Data and chew on his house in his spare time. Sponsored! By Way of the Wilderness

Picture
Data is part of our Goonies litter. Extremely energetic two-year-old who can run anywhere in the team. He likes to play with his brother Chunk.
Sponsored by the Big Lake

Picture
Major Tom is now 8, and the oldest possible contender for Iditarod this year.  Last year he led a 100-mile race in Maine, much to our pleasant surprise. Tom had a metacarpal fracture in 2022, which put him on the bench for a whole season. Tom loves to alert everyone when its time to eat. Sponsored!
By Craig and Lucy Adams/Altemus

Picture
Wallaby is a vocal male who came to us via another musher from Alaska. At dinner time, he sounds a loud alarm. In fact, he sounds an alarm at almost anything that is out of sorts. He is quite friendly, loves attention and loves to wrestle with Chicken.

Sponsored by Austin Danicic and Anna Moon

Picture
Bruce is part of the rockstar litter. Now six, the loves to just roll in the grass and stick his feet in the air when it's time for booties. Bruce is sponsored by Voyageur Brewing Company.
